Donnelly Staff to Hold Veterans History Project Event in Evansville

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly’s staff will host a Veterans History Project event at the Evansville Protestant Home in Evansville on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM CDT. The Veterans History Project is an effort by the Library of Congress to preserve the historic experiences of those who served in the United States military by recording their personal narratives and archiving them for future use by historians, teachers, and the general public.

Donnelly said, “The men and women who courageously served our country have moving stories to share about their service. It is important that we record their statements so that future generations have the opportunity to learn from their experiences and appreciate the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms.”

Donnelly’s staff and other Hoosier volunteers will be present to interview veterans. Donnelly will not be present. Area veterans are encouraged to attend in order to have their stories recorded. Individuals in the community who would like to volunteer to interview the veterans are also welcome.  Veterans who want to share their stories and volunteers who want to interview veterans should RSVP to Donnelly’s office by contacting Ryan Wiegand at or by calling 317-226-5555.
