Along with world leaders and our local high school band, Indiana Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly is also in Normandy to commemorate this day.

Donnelly serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

He said in a statement that we must always remember the extraordinary sacrifices our soldiers made, including the contributions of our Hoosier heroes.

Indiana Republican Senator Dan Coats also released a statement, saying the heroes of D-Day will never be forgotten and that we can honor their sacrifice by continuing to make our country strong, safe and free.
