"Donnelly Day" at Terre Haute Hospital
U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly tagged along with some Terre Haute medical residents today to get a feel of their daily experiences.
It was Donnelly Day at Union Hospital.
The senator shadowed resident physicians as they attended patients but his shadowing was more than just observing.
The Residency Training Program is federally funded and the senator says seeing the care doctors provide to patients is crucial to continuing that funding.
"What we're trying to do with our federally qualified health centers with the doctors here and throughout our region is to make sure that they have the opportunity to continue to grow, to continue to see graduates from this program spread out through our whole state," says Senator Donnelly.
Senator Donnelly says thanks to the Residency Training Program, much better medical care is being provided to folks who live in the Hoosier state.
