Donnelly announces grant for rail project

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly has announced funding for a rail project.

“We were able to get a $10 million (U.S.) Department of Transportation grant,” he explained.  “It’s going to go toward rebuilding the approaches to the Maunie Railroad Bridge.”

The bridge is located over the Wabash River and connects Posey County with White County, Illinois.

Donnelly said the timber approaches are in dire need of replacement.

The tracks are used by the Evansville Western Railway to transport coal and other products.

U.S. Senator Todd Young along with Congressmen Larry Bucshon and John Shimkus offered support for the grant in a letter to the Transportation Secretary.
