General Internships

We are currently accepting internship applications for the 2019 spring sessions in the Washington, D.C., Indianapolis and South Bend offices. Applications for the Washington, DC and Indianapolis offices will be accepted until November 9, 2018, or until positions are filled. Applications for the South Bend office will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled.

Interns in our Washington, D.C. office work closely with the professional staff on a variety of legislative projects, learn about the legislative process, gain valuable hands on experience, and are able to network on the Hill.

Responsibilities in the D.C. office may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • attending hearings
  • researching policy issues
  • assisting communications team
  • compiling information to respond to constituents' inquiries
  • clerical and administrative work

Interns in our Indiana offices help constituents who are looking for assistance from federal, state and local agencies.

Responsibilities in the Indiana Offices include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • working with case managers to research inquiries
  • providing up to date information to concerned constituents.
  • opportunities to accompany state staff to meetings of local civic and professional organizations.
  • clerical and administrative work

Press Internship

We are currently accepting applications for the spring 2019 Press Internship in the Washington, D.C. office. The internship is designed to allow an individual interested in communications and public service an opportunity to work alongside Senator Donnelly’s communications staff on a range of tasks that help share the work Senator Donnelly is doing on behalf of Hoosiers. Senator Donnelly’s Press Internship is a full-time position (30-40 hours week).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • assisting the press team with media monitoring
  • drafting social media content
  • assisting with research projects and other day-to-day operations and projects

Candidates should have an interest in communications. Familiarity with video editing, graphic design, and social media analytics is a plus. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
